I listened to all of the portable iPod speakers at BestBuy, and although the Bose system (for $399) sounded marginally better – the Altec Lansing iM600 is amazing considering the price. Great sound for a tiny unit, surprisingly good bass response, nice design, and FM tuner built in. If you can afford to spend $399 go with the Bose, if you’re cost conscious you could do a whole lot worse than this little wonder.
Please be aware of the following limitations: 1) It does not use over the counter batteries but rather a battery similar to a laptop so you can’t simply insert new ones. This means that do not expect to be using it without an AC adaptor for more then 5 hrs 2) It does not support iPhone use 3) It does not recharge your ipod when running on battery power. So the amt of time you have without AC adapter is either 5 hrs or how long your Ipod will have play on its own batteries.

Not For iPod Touch 2nd Gen
Even though the product specs and box clearly state that the iM600 is compatible with iPod Touch 2nd Gen, it is NOT.
This item unlike the other iPod-friendly speakers that have an FM radio option, sounds really good! Not the transistor radio type sound and there is a subwoofer out jack input. I purchased it to take on vacation in August and have not been disappointed since with almost daily use. It sits in my office at work, which make it very useful to get the news stations and listen to music that suits my mood through out the day. It charges the iPod when it’s docked and it operates on a rechargeable battery which makes it portable.

Radio feature FAILS
The inMotion 600 is pretty much a piece of junk. The buttons are cheapish and at times unresponsive.

ipod dock station for my boat
I wanted a portable dock station for my ipod to take in my restored old classic boat as it has no stereo and didn’t want to alter it from its orriginal form.

Worked only for one time then stopped. Customer pays for shipping in the replacement
Unit worked once, then will not play nor charge the Nano 4th gen. Very disappointed. I had to call tech support several times to make sure I was purchasing the correct unit…

My Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 is great! I can listen to my ipod in any room with no cables. It’s small, easily portable and sleek. I’d buy it again with no reservations.

Good sound but stopped recharging
Sound was great but after a year or so it would not recharge itself when plugged in.
