Amazing deal!
Got this set nearly 3 years ago @ Frys for $50 and have never felt obliged to replace them. If space is a factor this is your best bet.

Best Speakers Ever
I have had these speakers for a few years now and they have outlasted computers I have owned. Its still crystal clear audio, they are portable and they make good gaming speakers.
These little speakers rock! The sound is very clean and full, with a signal to noise ration >96dB. The bass is very solid and deep for such a small driver, with a slightly noticeable peak in frequency response around 80Hz or so, depending on what you are listening to. I personally have to turn the volume of the sub to it’s lowest level, or the bass overwhelms everything else. I think the greatest thing about these speakers is that even at a low overall volume level the sound is very full with plenty of deep bass (very similar to sound you get from a pair of large element headphones). A lot of speakers sound very thin at low volume levels as the bass rolls off, but not these, the little sub box just keeps thumping. One word of warning: The sub unit is NOT video shielded! Do not place it anywhere near your monitor, or you will ruin it, place it in the floor under your desk as recomended. These speakers will bring the life back to your MP3 collection, and I won’t even mention video games. Buy and enjoy!
I wanted a little extra bass for the songs I had stored on my computer and it exceeded my expectations! They look great and they sound even better. The subwoofer has a bass adjuster (mine does—some people just may not know where it is, i had to show a friend where hers was the other day) and you can turn it down to no bass or turn it all the way up. I was so excited the first time I listened to it. So if you want to give a boost to your computer’s sound system (or a cd player’s) then these are good bet.

Still sounding great – after nearly 2 years
I bought these speakers at my local OfficeMax for $50 in March 07 and they still sound as good as the day I first hooked them up to my PC.
Computer speakers have made leaps and bounds in the past ten years. The cost / benefit ratio, just like with other forms of technology, has really plummeted to levels so inexpensive that you no longer have to be cynical if something costs next to nothing. I picked up the Logitech’s mainly to listen to my mp3’s before burning them and listening on my ‘real’ stereo. Frankly, burning cd’s is a pain in the rear, and I have been using my laptop and mp3 device almost exclusively as a home unit now that I have the X-230. I said on one other site that complaining about budget speakers is a little like whining that you’re dollar cheeseburger isn’t as fresh and succulent as it appears on the menu. And while there are many praises to sing about these speakers, at the end of the day they aren’t a Bose system. Period. But MAN do they deliver a lot of bang for the buck. The highs are incredibly crisp and the bass is more than adequate, particularly if you are an apartment dweller like myself. These units were not designed to scorch your next block party, but they will fill an average apartment with acceptable sound even at a much higher price point. Regarding the unit being “too bassy,” the solution is simple (and touched on by another reviewer here). What I do is turn the bass knob all of the way up – yes, up, and then tweak the EQ in my media player to the lowest bass setting. This affords only the deepest bass signals to come from the sub, and eliminates most of the tubby sounds associated with cheaper systems. I firmly believe that many of the individual frequency complaints can easily be addressed by some creative EQ-ing. After getting my settings right, I can still notice a difference between these speakers and my Bose shelf unit, but not so much that I would run out and buy the Boses had I not already owned them. Only severe audiophiles will be unhappy here. If I do have a complaint, it’s that the cords are not long enough, and that there is no option of extending them. Speaker placement is almost as important to your sound as the speakers themselves. Well-placed, even a crappy system can yeild some great sound. Poorly placed, and even a $900 JBL floor system will sound anemic. They look GREAT! And the rectangular shape of the sub allows it to be placed in areas where a traditional ‘box’ sub won’t go (such as under the couch, where I use my laptop most often). The overall feel of the unit is very solid, with none of the ‘cheapness’ one might expect from budget sets. The knobs are very solid and the overall design is very elegant. Basically, you can’t go wrong with these. $30!!! I spent 30 bucks just drinking beer yesterday. They won’t fill your home with world class audio, but for the everyday user these are far, far above average, regardless of price point. I was very, very pleased when I first hooked them up and schooled them with some Groove Armada. Just remember to USE YOUR EQ!

Logi-cal choice
I can rock with these units. My wife tells me to close the PC room door, and then to turn them down. At $35, what a steal. Great crystal clear high end and powerful bass.
